Move In Day
When moving into your new home, place runners of Craft Paper or Ram Board down to protect the floor. PLEASE NO TAPE ON THE FLOOR!
PLEASE DON’T DRAG BOXES AND OTHER ITEMS ACROSS FLOOR.
It is a must to place stick-on felt protectors on the bottom of all furniture, especially chairs and other furniture pieces that move across the surface of the floor. Do Not use “Rubber Gripper Pads” under rugs, these are petroleum-based and will break down over time and may stick to and/or discolor the floor.
CLEANING GROUND & POLISHED CONCRETE
GROUND / POLISHED FLOORS: Polished concrete floors are very durable however they still need to be properly cleaned and maintained. This is even more true for high-traffic areas in residential, commercial or retail spaces. Although polished concrete floors are not maintenance-free, in general they are easier to care for than other concrete flooring surfaces, since they require no waxing or sealing.
Routine maintenance consists of daily dust mopping to remove dirt and grime accumulation that act as abrasives on the surface of polished concrete. Frequent wet mopping with clean water and microfiber mop is also needed. You’ll have even greater success using a floor cleaner that is formulated to suspend the dirt particles so they can be easily removed. Please contact us and we will direct you to the proper product designed for this purpose.
CLEANING INTERIOR SEALED CONCRETE
SEALED ACRYLIC CONCRETE FLOORS: All topical sealers such as Acrylic Sealers are plastic in nature and are susceptible to scratches. To care for this type of finish use a low Ph soap (Dawn liquid soap) and water to mop your floor. Do not use ammonia or vinegar base products to clean as this will break down the topical floor finish applied on top of the sealer.
L3 Concrete Designs applies Traffic Coat or ONE Floor Polish prior to the client moving into their home or business. If your sealed floor develops light scratches over time you can simply mop down (using a microfiber mop or lambswool applicator) a thin coat of Traffic Coat or ONE Acrylic Polish over a clean surface using a Lambs Wool Applicator. This usually dries in a matter of 30 minutes to an hour. If your finish develops deep gouges or scratches please consult with L3 Concrete Designs before going any further.

PROCEDURE: Before applying acrylic floor polish, please ensure your floor has been thoroughly cleaned and rid of dirt, pet hair or any debris that might dry in the acrylic finish. After cleaning the floor pour a puddle of acrylic floor polish directly on the floor then evenly spread over the floor and repeat over the entire floor surface using the lamb’s wool applicator or microfiber mop.
Please do not have fans running as this will dry the finish out too fast. The floor finish typically dries in about thirty minutes.
Rinse out your applicator for future use.
CLEANING DIAMOND BURNISHED CONCRETE
DIAMOND BURNISHED FLOORS: Diamond burnished concrete floors are very durable however they are not maintenance-free and still need to be properly cleaned and maintained. This is even more true for high-traffic areas in residential, commercial or retail spaces.
Any type of spills on your flooring should be cleaned up immediately.
Routine maintenance consists of daily dust mopping to remove dirt and grime accumulation that act as abrasives on the surface of diamond burnished concrete. Frequent wet mopping with clean water and microfiber mop is also needed. You’ll have even greater success using a floor cleaner that is formulated to suspend the dirt particles so they can be easily removed. Please contact us and we will direct you to the proper product designed for this purpose.
Depending on the amount of foot traffic and use, your floor will occasionally need to be re-burnished (more often in high traffic areas). Occasionally another application of micro-coating will need to be applied and diamond burnished to restore its luster. Refinishing should be done by a professional installer. Please call L3 Concrete Designs if you have any questions or concerns.
